How Does Online Private Tuition Work?

This video explains it all.

This means we have almost complete functionality versus what we can do face to face. I can work on the technical issues, as well as the inter-personal, confidence and other human factors which are so important in the learning process. The beauty is that no-one leaves home, so there's no call out fee for you. And with no carbon emissions, it's green!

I am available (on a pro rata cost basis) to help you set up your computer for online tuition.

How Does Private Tuition in General, Work?

There are various ways we can work:

  • If there is a particular area of difficulty, then we can focus on that until it's clear and comfortable. For example, if you have a dread of algebra or calculus we can walk into the darkness together :-) - and emerge triumphantly knowledgeable and fearless. It can be hugely comforting for a young person to remove their demons in this way.
  • Another approach is to shadow the school work, so we work on what happened in school that week - making sure it's all clear. This is a great way to ensure that your child keeps up and remains comfortable with the work. This can help maintain personal self esteem, and works against the downwards spiral which can easily happen when a vulnerable young person falls behind in their class work
  • A third approach is to work through the syllabus from top to bottom, checking for areas of weakness and building them up to full strength. This is a great way to ensure that - when the exams come around, your child is ready to realise their full potential. I will bring all the relevant teaching materials with me.
  • A forth approach, for students approaching examinations, is to focus onpast papers. Here's a video of me doing that, though in this case there is no student interaction - usually, I'd be encouraging them to go as far as they can on their own - stepping in to help only when necessary.

Tuition Subjects

At All Levels I teach numeracy and literacy - "The three Rs". At Key Stage 2, I teach all subjects. I teach Maths, English, Science, Design & Technology, and Computing or ICT at Key Stage 3 and GCSE levels, and I teach Physics, Design & Technology and Computer Science or ICT at A Level (AS and A2).

Online Private Tuition Costs

Online tuition does not incur a travel cost, and is less disruptive to my day. This means the price can be much lower - £25 per hour. Payment can be made in advance, by PayPal, Google Checkout or by BACs.
